A message from the Elders at StJoeCofC

The elders have met and discussed at length the latest mandate given about wearing masks. And we will continue to watch this issue closely. We the elders, are continuing to recommending the following:
  • If you are experiencing any symptoms, or not feeling well, please stay home.
  • To help with social distancing, please leave an empty chair or two, in between family groups.
  • We the elders are reminding everyone to show grace and love towards others during this. This is not a time to complain or argue, but an opportunity to show Christ-like attitudes.
  • Please do not police others in their personal choice to wear a mask or not. Yet please do be respectful to all.
  • Our Sunday school classes will not be starting up as planned. We will also be giving more information this week regarding our jr church policy and procedure.

Through all of this, let us remember Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Missions Sunday August 30th

Missions Sunday! August 30th Inspiration Ministries will be here to share what they are doing in DeKalb County. Inspiration Ministries, Inc. was founded in March 2012 in an effort to meet the individual needs of those in DeKalb County, IN, lacking resources and skills to access addiction recovery, housing, employment, transportation, and mentoring that are necessary to fully assimilate people back into the community. Inspiration Ministries exists to reach the Least, the Last and the Lost. They specialize in prison ministry, substance abuse disorders and life control problems. The ministry currently consists of the Plus One Program which is a residential/non-residential Christ-centered recovery program, The Cupbearer Cafe, Living Waters Farmers Marketplace which includes a Thrift Store, Farmers Market & Garden Center, Plus ONE Vocational Auto Repair Shop, Upword Living Bookstore, and Behind The Walls prison ministry.

We would like to collect items to bless their ministry and those they serve. Items needed are: laundry detergents and softener or drier sheets, coffee, and personal hygiene products like deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, bar and or body soap, tooth brushes, toothpaste. These items need to be to the church by August 30th.

Today we have to make sure false teachings do not invade in to our lives. Let’s look at how Paul says to combat this, and where we should focus for proper belief.
