Old to New
Series: Past Sermons
Today we come to a perplexing event with Jesus. As we have been looking through the life of Jesus, so we can live out our faith on His foundation, we come to Matthew 9:13-17. In the first part of this chapter, Jesus calls Levi, his Jewish name. His Greek name is Matthew. He worked as a Tax Collector for the Roman government. This occupation labeled him an outcast among his own people. Then came Jesus. Join us for Old to New. #stjoecoc #comeandsee #Foundation2023 #anunwaveringfaith

    Faith Filled Friends
    Series: Past Sermons
Jesus worked an astounding number of miracles while He was here on earth. But counting His birth, resurrection and return to Heaven, only 40 of these miracles are detailed in the four Gospels. In Matthew 9:1-8, Jesus crossed back over the sea to Capernaum, and there He worked another great healing miracle. The healing of a paralyzed man. Join us as we meet this man and his Faith Filled Friends.   #stjoecoc #comeandsee #Foundation2023 #anunwaveringfaith

    Draw Near
    Series: Past Sermons
Last week we looked at the demon possessed man in church. Today we are going to look in the book of Luke for the next encounter with Jesus. Luke wrote his Gospel so that Theophilus might have certainty concerning the things he had been taught about Jesus (Luke 1:1-4). Luke wanted Theophilus, and others like him, to know for sure that Jesus is the Son of God who had come to seek and to save sinners. Luke recorded 21 miracles by Jesus in his Gospel. Today we will examine the miracle of Jesus healing a leper. #stjoecoc #comeandsee #Foundation2023 #anunwaveringfaith

    Responding to Jesus
    Series: Past Sermons
We have looked at the early part of Jesus ministry. From His baptism, His calling of the disciples, and His temptation. Last week we looked at Jesus in Nazareth, about how those people had the Messiah in a box. Today in Mark 1 Jesus in in Capernaum. Even though Jesus was from Nazareth, the majority of His ministry was done in “Capernaum,” which was located on the northwest edge of the Sea of Galilee. Just like last weeks passage, Jesus is teaching and the people respond. A response is always expected when we encounter Jesus. Join us for Responding to Jesus. #stjoecoc #comeandsee #Foundation2023 #anunwaveringfaith

    The Jesus Box
    Series: Past Sermons
This morning we will look at a passage in Luke’s Gospel, where a group of people who know Jesus very well, tried to stuff Him into their box. The problem was that Jesus’ purpose and His whole ministry was way too big to be contained in any box dreamed up by the thoughts of mere men. Join us for The Jesus Box. #stjoecoc #comeandsee #Foundation2023 #anunwaveringfaith

    Series: Past Sermons
How many of you feel like your life is in the fast lane, that all you seem to do is hurry to everything? A lot of people fill their lives with activities. They go to this and that event, they spend this much time at work, this much time on their own projects. They are constantly busy. And yet, are they really productive? A lot of people live busy lives without ever stopping to think, “What does God want me to do?” As a result, they hurry from one project to another. And they feel like slaves, wearing themselves out without accomplishing what God considers important. Join us as we see what God’s word says about being busy verses being productive.   #stjoecoc #comeandsee #Foundation2023 #anunwaveringfaith

Today we continue to follow the life of Christ, so we can build a foundation of unwavering faith, we are going to look at John 3. This is where John the Baptist effectively conquered jealousy among his own followers. What can you do to combat this terrible, subtle enemy? What can you do to conquer jealous comparisons before they conquer you? #stjoecoc #comeandsee #Foundation2023 #anunwaveringfaith

    The Cost of Worship
    Series: Past Sermons

Last week we looked at Jesus’ first recorded miracle. As we continue following Jesus through His earthly life we are going to see how Jesus interacts with people. How Jesus talks to the spiritually lost. How Jesus talks to the spiritually arrogant. How Jesus interacts with creation, and how Jesus responds to the crowds. Throughout His earthly life, we need to remember that Jesus was a Jew. Which meant He would follow the Jewish laws and rituals. Jesus would have went to the Synagogues, and the Temple. Jesus observed all the Jewish festivals, including the Passover. Today we are going to see the first recorded Passover of Jesus’ ministry.
