Scattered: Barnabas
Series: Past Sermons
Today we are going to see a man of encouragement. Joseph. Not the earthly father of Jesus. Not the boy sold to slavery in Egypt. No, this Joseph was such an encourager, that he was renamed Barnabas, which means Son of Encouragement. Let us look at the character of this man and find how we can be more like him. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Destination2021 #Scattered

Today, as we continue through the book of Acts, we are again with Peter as he ministered to the people along the coast and in Joppa. We are going to see a major shift in the Christian faith, that may seem normal today but was unprecedented in Peter's time. So let get started in Acts chapter 10 & 11. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Destination2021 #Scattered Check out our YouTube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/c/StJoeChurchofChrist

How do you do when it comes to sharing the good news about Jesus? For some people sharing the good news about Jesus is very natural. It comes easy for them. But for others, they find it very difficult. They get tongue-tied and nervous. They even worry that we might say the wrong thing. Yet, we all know we should say something. We know that God has changed us, and because of that, we know He can help others as well. We want to be a witness to this difference Jesus has caused in us. We are going through a sermon series called Scattered. The early church was growing fast, but encountered some troubles. When persecution came, the believers scattered. But as they scattered they kept telling people bout Jesus. Join us for Acts chapter 8.

    Series: Past Sermons
It has been a rough year and a half. So many things have been happening, and so many of those things are not good. We have had a pandemic full of fear and control. We have had riots or protests. Political division. Medical division. Promoting of immoral behavior. Lack of transparency. There have been lots of changes in this covid era, even more in the post-covid world. How we work, go to the dr., shop, visit with folks, go to school, even “go to church” has dramatically changed. We did not willingly make most of those changes. And it has been difficult. For the most part, humans are adaptable, and we have accepted the changes we need to make, even if we do it reluctantly. The past year has seen the church "scattered" from our traditional routines and practices. What do we do now? Far too often the church only acts when it is required by external circumstances. We have been “scattered” away from our routine and reliance on the church building. Our traditional and comfortable ways of “doing church” have been disrupted and we have had to develop new ways of achieving eternal goals. What does God’s word have to say about the church that had been SCATTERED?

Troubles or the Church: Choosing the Wrong Side
    Series: Past Sermons
For the last several Sundays, we have been looking at troubles and the church. We have seen several troubles that have tried in invade the church, or hinder the church. Today Stephen is going to show us that we have a choice. What we have in chapter 7 is the longest sermon in the entire book of Acts. We were first introduced to Stephen in chapter 6. He is one the deacons selected to fulfill a ministry task so the church leaders could focus on preaching, teaching and prayer. Join us as we find out what Stephen has to say. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Destination2021 #TroublesandtheChurch

Troubles and the Church: A Growing Church
    Series: Past Sermons
As we continue our sermon series Trouble and the church, we see here that the church once again has a problem. This passage is one many have heard preached, repeatedly. But what do we do? Skip it? Touch on it a bit and move on? Or choose to break it down and see what God wants St Joe Church of Christ to hear. Troubles and the Church: Staying on Target
    Series: Past Sermons
There are troubles that happen whenever people get together. We have looked at a few troubles in the church so far. Troubles that started within the church. Today we are going to see a trouble that was outside of the church, and tried to work its way in. A real church, a church that is healthy with Christians growing in their faith, does not get to go through life unopposed. This is a fact that was seen even in the earliest church. Join us as we continue our study of Acts 5. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Destination2021 #TroublesandtheChurch
