Pursue: The Giant Slayer
Series: Past Sermons
We will all face situations in our lives where we need to be victorious. We all meet situations in life where we can do nothing in our own power or strength to overcome. There are going to be situations in our lives that are big, that are giants. We must decide how we are going to face them. Join us as we Pursue a Godly Heart. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Pursue2022 #QuestForAGodlyHeart

    Becoming A Gift Giver: Recognition
    Series: Past Sermons
There is no other holiday like Christmas, where expectation is so much a part of its celebration. We look forward to Christmas, longer, and with greater anticipation, then all other holidays combined. We have all heard the phrase, “It is better to give than to receive.” Where does this idea come from? Join us this Christmas season as we are Becoming A Gift Giver.   #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Destination2021 #BecomingAGiftGiver

    Destination Rome: Your Story
    Series: Past Sermons
Last week we saw how some well-intentioned people tried to stop Paul from going to Jerusalem. Ultimately it was God’s will that Paul go. In the rest of chapter 21, Paul arrives in Jerusalem. The Jerusalem church welcomes Paul, but the Jews of that area do not. This causes great friction and ultimately leads to Paul’s story. His testimony. Join as we continue our journey.

Destination Rome: Good Advice… Bad Advice
    Series: Past Sermons
Advice can be a wonderful thing…or an absolute disaster. I bet that all of us can think back to some bad advice you received or perhaps some bad advice that you have given. Sometimes we don’t want to hear advice, but we should hear it anyway and pay heed to it. Last Sunday we started the final sermon series through our study of Acts. Destination Rome. Paul is focused on his destination. In our text, we see Paul’s friends trying desperately to give him advice. These are good godly people. They are giving this advise through love of God and love of Paul. Let’s see what kind of advise they gave, and how Paul handled it.

    Destination Rome: Wake Up!
    Series: Past Sermons
Today we start the end of Acts. Paul is focused from this point on. Paul knows God has called him to go to Rome. Rome was the center of the world at this point. And Paul was commissioned to share the message of Christ to Rome, thereby enabling people to take that message to the rest of the world. When we go on a journey the first thing we need to do is prepare. Join us as we prepare for the journey to the Destination Rome.

Visiting the Cities of Acts: Duplicity
    Series: Past Sermons
Today we continue in our cities of Acts. Paul is not in his third missionary journey. Here we find people who seem like followers of Christ, doing the work of true believers. However, thing are not always what they seem. Join us as we finish traveling the cities of Acts in chapter 19. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Destination2021 #VisitingtheCitiesofActs

Visiting the Cities of Acts: Distinguished Faith
    Series: Past Sermons
There are a lot of unexpected events, surprises in the Bible. It’s surprising that God saved a man like Saul, who became the great Apostle Paul. Think of the surprise to the Israelites when they came to the Red Sea with the Egyptians in hot pursuit, and suddenly, Surprise, God parts the sea for them to cross over. Think of how surprising it was to live in Galilee when a man named Jesus suddenly starts turning water into wine, calming storms, healing the sick and raising the dead! There are so many other surprises in the Bible, as we continue to look at various cities in Acts, we come to a new person. A surprise. There’s no hint of him before chapter 18, and then he leaps into the Bible! He’s mentioned once more in Acts 19:1, and then you never hear of him in Acts again, although Paul mentions him 7 times in 1 Corinthians and once in Titus. Join us as we journey to this new Destination in Acts 18.

Visiting the Cities of Acts: Egoamimetasou
    Series: Past Sermons
We have been through various cities so far in our journey through Acts. Last week we visited Religiosity. A place where people pretend to be religious but all of it is empty and hollow. Instead, we need to move into relationship with God. The week before that we were in Simplicity. The Bereans showed us how to live in simple faith. Following God, studying the Scripture to make sure we are living our lives right. We started this sermon series by visiting the town of Jealousy. In the city of Jealousy there is a good side. There is a proper time and place to be jealous. But there is also the other side of the tracks. A place where jealousy takes us to a sinful life. The city we are really going to visit today is hard to say, Egoamimetasou. We are going to see what Egoamimetasou means to Paul, and what it can mean to us, as we come to chapter 18 of Acts. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Destination2021 #VisitingtheCitiesofActs

Visiting the Cities of Acts: The City of _______________
    Series: Past Sermons
As we continue through our study in Acts we are visiting the various cities that Paul goes to on his second missionary journey. Today we come to the town of Athens. Athens became known for its military power. Even though it had been conquered by the Romans in 146 BC, during Paul’s day Athens continued to be a free city that was still known as the intellectual capital of the Greco-Roman world and the religious capital of Greece. What are we going to find when we travel to Athens with Paul... Let find out in Acts 17. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Destination2021 #VisitingtheCitiesofActs
