The New King
Series: Past Sermons
How would you describe a king? Royal. Elite. A king is a man who is the most important member of the royal family of his country, and who is considered to be the Head of State of that country. What does a king have? Castle or palace. Wealth. Prestige. What does a king do? Run the country. Head of state. Generally speaking, American’s do not like the idea of a monarchy. It goes against the principles of the founding fathers. And yet, a monarchy is exactly what scripture talks about so much. In our study today we come to the continental divide of this series on the life of David. David’s life was sprinkled with a mixture of accomplishments and disappointments. Join us today as we begin the new chapter in David’s life as The King. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Pursue2022

    Saul’s Sad Ending
    Series: Past Sermons
If you bring up the subject of death and you will get many different reactions from people. Some can easily and readily talk about it, and others cannot. As we turn to our text for today from 1 Samuel 31, we come to the very sad and tragic ending of the life of King Saul. Some might approach this chapter with a sense of relief. We know Saul’s demise and death are coming; they were prophesied by Samuel long ago in chapters 13, and 15. Join us as we say goodbye to King Saul. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Pursue2022

    Pursue: Wilderness of Sin
    Series: Past Sermons
Today we will be in 1 Samuel 27, 29 and 30. In these chapters we will notice that there is a very key person missing in the life of David, and that person is God. Isn’t that strange, here is David, the man after God’s own heart, and God is missing from this entire episode. How can that be? Join us as we see how David struggles to do life his own way instead of God’s. Do we ever choose that path? How do turn back? #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Pursue2022 #QuestforaGodlyHeart

    Pursue: From Anger to Abigail
    Series: Past Sermons
This year our theme is Pursue, a quest for godly heart. And we are looking through the good and the bad of David’s life, to see what made him a man after God’s own heart. David is known by many things. A poet. A shepherd. A warrior. A King. A musician. A man after God’s own heart. Throughout this year we are going to look at the life of David, to learn from him so that we too can pursue a Godly heart. In chapters 24 and 26 we see David show such restraint and forgiveness, godly attributes that we should mirror. But what about 25? What happens in between these two times that David acts justly? Join us as we continue our Quest for a Godly Heart. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Pursue2022

    Pursue: The Cave of Wonders
    Series: Past Sermons
Last week when we left David, he was dribbling saliva down his beard and scratching on the gate of the enemy like a madman. Realizing that his identity was known by the Philistines, David fakes insanity and then slipped out of the city of Gath. Once again, David is a man on the run and where do we find him? Join us as we discover the Cave of Wonders. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Pursue2022

    Purse: Removing The Training Wheels
    Series: Past Sermons
How many of you had training wheels on your bikes? Those little side wheels attached to the back tire help give you stability on a bike. They are a great help when first learning how to ride a bike. Once we have learned to ride the bike, the training wheels should be removed, right? What if we are too afraid to let go of the training wheels? Many people are still finding their security in training wheels. In the things of this world. Sometimes we don’t even recognize that we are trusting in these things rather than in God. These training wheels of life become a sort of idol when we place our trust in them. Join us today as we pursue a heart like David. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Pursue2022 #QuestForAGodlyHeart

    Acts Unwrapped
    Series: Past Sermons
Our theme for the year is Destination. All year long we have looked through the book of Acts. At times in great detail. All to help us see where God was leading us individually and corporately as the church. Through out this book, we have seen the church do some incredible Kingdom growth. But is there something else in here. Is there an underlying message? Let’s unwrap Acts. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Destination2021 #ActsUnwrapped
