Pursue: A Blessed Life
Series: Past Sermons
In today’s Psalm, Psalm 1, we see that the Psalms contain a lot of good wisdom for living a good, practical, and godly life. The theme of this psalm is of wisdom. It contains very wise and practical advice about the benefits of avoiding the world in many ways and embracing God, specifically, the law of God. Pursue: Intro to Psalms
    Series: Past Sermons
Today we start a new series. We have been looking at David. Since God called David a man after God’s own heart, we want to know what David did, how David lived. Why was it God called him that, and can we do it as well? If you were to allow your bible to automatically open, what book would it probably open up to? Psalms. The Psalms are a very interesting book. For the next several weeks we will look at various psalms. Join us as we Pursue: a heart of worship. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Pursue2022

    Pursue: Davids Last Words
    Series: Past Sermons
We have seen a lot through the life of David. His highs and lows, the victories and failures. David is called a man after God’s own heart. Through our study this year hopefully all of us have learned how we can also live out our faith, live our lives in such as way that God could also call us people after His own heart. Today we are going to see the end of David’s life here on earth. Before David dies, he has some very important final words for the new king, his own son, Solomon. Join us as we hear the Last Words of King David. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Pursue2022

King David was ready to retire, but before he did, there were a couple of more things to accomplish. David had lived to be an aged monarch. He was a king who was greatly revered by his people. He is beloved for his music and poetry. He is respected for his remarkable wealth and power. He is famous far and wide for his military might and numerous victories. And he is emulated for his great love and esteem for the Lord God. Join us as we learn from Old King David. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Pursue2022

    Pursue: Joy of Giving
    Series: Past Sermons
What is one topic that people hate to hear from the pulpit? A message on giving. Here at St Joe, we will always and only preach what is found in scripture. If the bible talks about giving, that is what we will preach and teach. Which leads us to 1 Chronicles 29. This event in David’s life is one of his spiritual highlights. I wish this was the last thing we knew of David. Unfortunately, in the next few weeks we will see how David’s life ended. We looked at this passage a few weeks ago. Then we looked at what kind of legacy are we leaving? How can we inspire our kids to have a real faith in God? We must start with ourselves. Get rid of religion and get into a real relationship with Jesus. Put our own faith into practice. But there is more in this passage that I think we need to address. Pursue: The Response
    Series: Past Sermons
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) Not one can claim righteousness on their own standing. Even a “man after God’s own heart” was righteous. Sunday we were in 2 Samuel 24, when again King David sinned against God. Jake Fletcher shared The Response this fallen man had when again he had to face the consequences of his actions. Pursue: Preparing a Legacy Worth Pursuing
    Series: Past Sermons
David is called a man after God’s own heart. And here we see that David really wanted to build the new temple to worship and honor God. Yet God told David, you are not the one to build the temple. We need to recognize that David has a great response to God’s statement. David didn’t get upset; he didn’t take offense. David did not pout or get angry at God. It doesn’t seem that David even gets jealous of his son Solomon who would have the honor of building this temple. Instead, David accepted God’s decision and put his who life into making sure the preparations would be made. This generous attitude and gracious spirit of wholehearted support stand as a great and noble monument to the legacy of this man of God. Join us we learn from David’s example and pursue a godly legacy. #stjoecofc #ComeAndSee #Pursue2022

    Pursue: Forgiveness Is Divine
    Series: Past Sermons
All year we have been studying the life of David. I have tried to present David to you just the way the Bible does, as a real man who loved God, but often failed God. In spite of all his sin and failure, David was still a man after God’s own heart. And I think that one of the qualities of his life that made him such was his humility. David’s humility will be on display today as we see it expressed in his forgiving spirit. How many of you find it easy to forgive someone? It is not an easy thing for most of us.
